Wireless technology refers to technology that allows us to communicate without using cables or wires. With wireless technologies, people and other entities can communicate over very long distances. This technology includes RF and IR waves. RF and IR stand for radio frequency and infrared respectively.

The word wireless is dictionary defined as “having no wires”. In networking terminology, this is the term used to describe any computer network where there is no physical wired connection between sender and receiver, but rather the network is connected by radio waves and/or microwaves to maintain communications.

Basically, first a computers  adapter changes the data into radio signals and then transmits these signals through the use of an antenna. Then a  router receives the signal and decodes it. It then sends the information through a wired Ethernet connection to the internet.
